On August 13, 1976, an organization called LI declared International Left-Handers Day to be an annual event. This particular date was chosen because it fell on Friday the 13th and was a way to poke fun at the superstitions that have plagued left-handed people for way too long. The event is observed now worldwide so left-handers everywhere can rejoice and increase public awareness of the advantages and disadvantages of being left-handed.
